Ray Mehaffey and the USFS

The US Forest Service has had a significant impact on the Red Feather Lakes region.  In a program sponsored by the Red Feather Library and RFHS on June 14, 2019, Ray Mehaffey relays his personal and inside story during his tenure as the district forester for the Colorado State Forest. Learn about USFS forest management (logging and milling, Christmas tree harvesting, thinning, wildland fires,  Deadman lookout), soil conservation, recreation, and grazing.

The in-home interview on Sep 27th, 2019  with his wife Sonja relays their life experiences since 1955.
