Board Members

Pat Clemens, President

Pat ClemensPat is actively involved in her community doing volunteer work with many organizations.

She taught Home Economics from 1964-89, and from 1989-1996 she was an instructor of Fashion/Interior Computer Design at Metro Tech and Phoenix College. Pat had the distinction of being the only teacher to receive Arizona Home Economic Teacher of the Year twice: in 1974 for her classes in Bachelor Survival and in 1991 for innovative program in computer design. She received her B.S. and M.S. from the University of New Mexico plus acquired over 100 hours at Arizona State University.

Pat is retired and enjoys her home in Glacier View with her husband Matt. Her hobbies include sewing/quilting, playing golf and reading.


Caryn Hughes, Vice President

Caryn moved to Red Feather Lakes after retiring from Hewlett-Packard, where she worked for almost 40 years.

Caryn enjoys mountain living and supporting this mountain community. In addition to serving as Vice President of the Historical Society, she is a member of  the Mountain Gals, is a board member and the Treasurer of the Red Feather Lakes Fire Protection District, and works at the Red Feather Lakes POA as Office Manager.

She is married to Lon Hughes (Realtor) and lives in RFL on Hiawatha Hwy.


Mike Pickett, Treasurer

Mike is a retired math and science teacher who moved to Red Feather Lakes with his wife Melody in 2017.

He is involved in several organizations besides the Red Feather Historical Society, volunteering for the Poudre Wilderness Volunteers, Royal Family Kids, and RFL Elementary School. He was a high school baseball and volleyball coach and is an avid baseball fan.

Mike and Melody married in 1983 and lived in Arvada for 30 years. They have two married children, Chris and Jamie.


Cynthia Ott, Secretary

Cynthia recently moved to Glacier View Meadows from Northern California to be close to her family. She grew up in Tahoe and enjoys mountain living and all the outdoor activities this area has to offer.

She teaches computer and business courses at Aims Community College, works at Ponderosa Realty, and is a member of the Glacier Gals. When she’s not working on her house or taking college courses, she enjoys crafting, hiking, reading, and spending time with her family and friends.

Cynthia says the community has been very welcoming, and she looks forward to getting to know everyone and becoming involved in the different groups and activities.


Andy Sauter, Director

Andy and his wife Julie have had a home in Red Feather Highlands for 9 years. A Colorado native, Andy is also a resident and active member of the agricultural community in Pierce, where he and Julie own a farm.

Andy worked for the fire department for 30 years, and was then exposed to the Red Feather area when he worked digging and maintaining ditches along Deadman Road and near Eaton Reservoir. Currently serving on the RFHS Board, he has also volunteered with the North 40 Food Pantry in Red Feather.

Besides splitting his time between Red Feather and Pierce, he enjoys activities with his wife and dog like pedal boating, as well as tending to his 2 goats and 12 chickens.


Sue Stevens, Director

Sue moved to Northern Larimer County from Nebraska when she was 5 for her family to pursue a local ranching opportunity. She has been a real estate broker for 32 years with family-owned Ponderosa Realty Associates in Red Feather, and is a volunteer with the Red Feather Lakes Fire Protection District. She also has a 4-year Associates Degree in Animal Science.

Sue enjoys hiking, fishing and hunting, and exercises her creative talents doing stained glass in her in-home studio. She lives in Crystal Lakes with her husband Bob Adams, Dutch Shepard Nigel, Chocolate Lab Dakota, and Angus, her horse. She spends as much time as she can with her loved ones, including her mother Lucille and sister Cid, who both live nearby.


Amanda Johnston, Director

Amanda has lived in Northern Colorado for decades, moving to Livermore in 2019 for its welcoming, rural community. Her volunteer work spans many years, most recently with the RFHS, Mountain Ministries, and RFL Communication Association, plus she is a caregiver for her elderly neighbor.

Amanda has worked in both the private and public food sectors in quality assurance, regulatory compliance, and food safety education. She has a B.S. degree from Colorado State University in Animal Science, with interdisciplinary studies in food science and food safety.

She lives in Glacier View Meadows with husband Jeff, daughter Emerey, horses, cats, dog, hamster, aquatic turtle and gold fish. Amanda loves to camp and travel with her family, and is dedicated to maintaining their historic Batterson Barn property.


Sue Emond, Director

Sue’s family is one of the original families to own property in Red Feather Lakes. Her grandparents, Bonnie and Hugh Drake, built a cabin east of Ramona Lake in 1925, now designated a “Historic Site” in RFL.

She loves the Rocky Mountains, and especially hiking, fishing, hunting, doing wildlife photography, going on adventurous high-country drives, and volunteering.

Sue has a B.S. in Communication, has been a professional writer and marketer for 30+ years, and owns Sue Emond Consulting LLC and Sue Emond Photography. She also has 4 holistic health certifications including Reflexology and Advanced Neuromuscular Therapy, plus is a 2nd Degree Blackbelt in Taekwondo. She happily resides in Green Mountain Meadows with her beloved rescue dogs, Winnie and Max.
